Downgrading a jailbroken 2.0 iPod Touch to 1.1.4

This guide will show you step by step how you downgrade a jailbroken iPod Touch, running firmware 2.0, back to a jailbroken iPod Touch running firmware 1.1.4.

Step 1: Requirements

To be able to jailbreak your iPod and get the 2.0 firmware running, you'll need to make sure you have the following things downloaded and ready on your computer. You will need iTunes version 7.7 and 7.5, the official 1.1.4 firmware from Apple, WinRAR to be able to get Apple's Mobile Device drivers and some patience.

You need the following things:

Step 2: Back up your iTunes library

The iTunes library you are currently using with your iTunes 7.7 is not compatible with the iTunes library you will be using with iTunes 7.5. So the first thing you want to do, unless you take pleasure in rebuilding your library from scratch, is making a backup of your iTunes library.

Step 3: Getting applemobiledevice.msi and downgrading iTunes

iTunes 7.7 is a WinRar self-extractable executable setup package, right click on it and unrar it to a directory. Inside that directory you'll find a setup package called applemobiledevice.msi. You will need this later. For best results, uninstall the following programs: iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Support, Quicktime, iPodService (if visible), Apple Update.

You can now install iTunes 7.5 and applemobiledevice.msi from the iTunes 7.7 package. Not installing applemobiledevice.msi means that iTunes won't see your iPod Touch with firmware 2.0 in DFU mode.

Step 4: Putting the iPod in DFU mode

This mode is a little tricky. First, connect your iPod. iTunes will pop up and say it won't work with this version of iTunes. That is ok. You just need to put it into DFU Mode.

Turn up the sound on your computer. Next, turn your iPod off. Hold power and home for 10 (ten) seconds. Let go of the power button while still holding the home button. Hold this until you hear your computer give the "USB Connected Sound". Then let go. You are now in DFU Mode.

Step 5: Downgrading to 1.1.4

Now in iTunes, hold Shift and Click restore. Select the 1.1.4 firmware. After this you can use Ziphone to jailbreak it.
